In this March 21, 2010 photograph, a brand new Tata Nano car, branded as the world's cheapest car, is seen engulfed in flames in the suburbs of Mumbai. The car draped with a ceremonial garland of marigolds belonging to Satish Sawant, a software engineer, burst into flames as it was being driven home from a city showroom. Sawant who along with his family was travelling in the rear passenger seat of the chauffer driven Nano barely managed to pull out his wife and five-year-old son of the car before the smoke billowing from the rear engine turned into flames that engulfed the tiny car. At least 26,500 Nanos have been sold since its launch in July last year, with the basic model priced at 100,000 rupees from the factory floor, while the popular, high-end version, the Nano LX, sells for 172,360-185,375 rupees.
